Shame is one of the most powerful and painful human emotions we can experience.

Those who don’t live with it, often don’t understand it.

Our shame can come from experiences with sin, rejection or abandonment.

For example, Adam and Eve experienced shame in the Garden of Eden, as they felt separated from God by their sin.

Shame is based on small lies in our mind.  It can come from hidden pride, unrealistic expectations and even false humility.  God does not bring shame to you, but your enemy loves to torment you with it.

If you struggle with shame, it stands in the way of intimacy with your spouse.  That’s why it must be dealt with.

Be humble.  Know your value as a child of God.  You are one who Jesus died for.  There is no one who truly measures up before God.  Acknowledge any pride, unforgiveness, pain or rejection that may be fueling your shame.

Jesus will set you free from the power of shame, but only if you choose to believe His word.
